The institute is accommodated in the former head office of the Amstel Brewery. Workrooms, fully equipped studios, laboratories, a printing room, workplaces and the many computer rooms offer the students every opportunity to prepare themselves for their future professional working environment. The institute's multi-media library is renowned for its unique collection in the field of fashion. The school has a student union, Olika, and keeps in contact with graduates who regularly return to give lectures. Many lecturers are members of the business community and some are independent designers and consultants.

The Amsterdam Fashion Institute tests its courses against the demands of the business community represented in the Advisory Board. In the case of special projects the school is supported by the Mr. Koetsier Fund.

Companies and/or organisations that are interested in a cooperation, AMFI can offer the following possibilities: alumni, graduation assignments, work placement, competitions, assignments aimed on study speciality, etc.
